From the 1950s to the 1970s, many Japanese Western-style painters, including Kan Irie and Kojiro Kosugi, visited Paris. This exhibition presents the works of seven Japanese Western-style painters who visited Paris during this period, and their works before and after their stay in Europe, in an attempt to explore how their studies in Paris were applied to their painting and to reexamine the history of contemporary Western-style painting, which is colored by the rich individuality of these artists.
